Following the closure of Master Evans club I started to train at the Hillsbourgh boys club under the instruction of Master Andrew Hill, during this period I also trained at Verdon St, Burngreave, which was struggling to keep members or instructors, once I reached red belt, I left Verdon St and trained more often with Master Andrew Hill, at his Sheffield boys club, Hillsbourgh. I trained with Master Andrew Hill right through to my 1st Dan black belt, which I took in the year of 1999 at County Durham, in front of Grand Master Kim Yong Ho 9th Dan. Master Andrew Hill parted company with the Chun Ma association shortly afterwards in the year 2000 and focused more and more on the fight training aspects of Taekwondo, he established Pil Sung Taekwondo; with the BTC, I did not enjoy this style of training and left the club, taking a break from training. I went on to establish Kyo Hoon Taekwondo on the 1st February 2003, I approached Master David Sutherill and joined his association as part of the Chun Ma Taekwondo & Mudo clubs, this meant that I was still training as a student under the guidance of Master David Sutherill 7th Dan and in turn under Grand Master Kim Yong Ho 9th Dan, within the British Taekwondo & Mudo Academy. I went on to gain my 2nd Dan in Sheffield on the 16th November 2003 & my 3rd Dan in Doncaster on 19th November 2006. I now travel to Doncaster on a weekly basis taking many of my students through with me, giving them the opportunity to train with Master David Sutherill. I attend regular inter-club training sessions, seminars with Master Dave & Grand Master Kim. I encourage all of my students to attend seminars, inter club training and also to enter competitions, as I believe that everyone benefits from these events. I have put allot into Kyo Hoon and Taekwondo, I now run clubs at St Patricks Catholic Primary School, Firth Park Community Arts College as well as here at Trinity Fir-Vale. I have run after school clubs and workshops for Whiteways junior school, I have run summer holiday club workshops for Hinde House Infants and St Cuthbert's Church and also I was privileged to be asked to run a work shop at Sheffield adoption celebration week. I was honoured to be awarded Black Belt of the year for Chun Ma in 2003, and Instructor of the year in 2006. As a club Kyo Hoon Taekwondo now has over 80 active members from all ages, genders and racial backgrounds, we are establishing ourselves as a friendly and enthusiastic club in the Firth Park/Fir Vale area of Sheffield. Kyo Hoon Taekwondo is run totally voluntarily by all our staff and every thing we make goes straight back into our club.
